Synopsis

A toy collector herself, the director researches the playful universe of Câmpulung Muscel. Through encounters with toys, places, and people who accept her invitation, the film reflects on playfulness as a shared social language.

Playground: Câmpulung Muscel explores play as one of humanity’s innate forms of communication. The film begins with a playdate where participants bring their own toys and digitally blend them with the director’s to build characters and imagine stories that guide the film. Combining documentary, video essay, music-video aesthetics, and AI animation, the film turns all encounters into a playful experimentation on reflecting on memory, connection, and how we relate to the world through play.

Context and Research

The film was developed in 2026 as a result from a broader research framework of the cultural intervention project NE/RE-VĂZUT: Muscel, initiated by Asociația Narative.

The film emerges from an extended process of artistic research and fieldwork carried out in the town of Câmpulung. Within this framework, the city is approached as a space of interaction rather than representation, where meaning is constructed through relationships, gestures, and everyday practices.
